NADRA Family Registration Certificate fee update in Nov 2024

Family Registration Certificate, FRC National Database Registration Authority, NADRA

The Family Registration Certificate (FRC) issued by the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) is an essential document carrying details about the complete members of a family.

The certificate is an important and must-have document for citizens of Pakistan to ensure they have all their details with the NADRA to obtain further documentation from the authority.

Citizens can obtain the FRC from the authority in three different categories, including by birth, marriage, or adoption.

In the Birth category, the National Database Registration Authority certificate will list all members of a citizen’s family including the details of parents and siblings.

Another way citizens can obtain the FRC is by marriage, in which the certificate will list the family including the details of the citizen’s spouse and children.

The third option is by adoption which will show the family’s details including the details of the guardian of the adopted person.

It is noteworthy here that those who do not have the NADRA-issued 13-digit ID number, will not be included in the Family Registration Certificate.

Citizens of Pakistan can either apply for the certification by visiting the NADRA Registration Center (NRC) or through the Pak-Identity website.

Pakistanis leaving overseas will need to visit the relevant mission office abroad to obtain the Family Registration Certificate.

NADRA, just like its other essential certificates, charges a fixed amount for the issuance of the FRC.

The fee for the issuance of the document remains unchanged at Rs1,000 in November 2024.

26th Constitutional Amendment, Lawyers Action Committee

ISLAMABAD: The Lawyers Action Committee announced to hold a referendum against passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, deeming it a ‘threat’ to democracy and judicial independence, ARY News reported.

The Lawyers Action Committee, comprising prominent lawyers, held its meeting at the Supreme Court Bar Head Office, resolved to challenge the amendment through constitutional and legal means.

The Lawyers Action Committee also announced to hold a convention in Islamabad to mobilise support against the amendment

During a news conference following a meeting of lawyers, Munir A Malik declared, “We are discussing how the lawyers’ movement will progress, whether it will be slow or fast.” He said If we don’t hold this referendum, we will never know what the people and lawyers want.”

Munir A. Malik strongly opposed the 26th Amendment, claiming that it undermines the Constitution’s essential foundation. Speaking on the occasion, Ali Ahmed Kurd said that Munir A. Malik hasbeen elected as head of the Lawyers Action Committee.

He said that the slogan of their campaign against 26th Constitutional Amendment is ‘We will not back down’.

How CJP is appointed after 26th constitutional amendment?

The constitutional amendment to Article 175A paved the way for key changes to how judges are appointed, shifting more authority to a 12-member parliamentary committee – comprised of eight members from the National Assembly (NA) and four senators – to appoint the CJP, selecting from among the three most senior judges.

After amendment to clause 3 of Article 175A, the top judge is now appointed on the recommendation of the Special Parliamentary Committee from amongst the three most senior SC judges, rather than the president designating the most senior judge of the Supreme Court as the CJP.

After finalising the name,  the committee forwards the nominee’s name to the prime minister who is bound to forward the same to the president for final approval.

Lahore air pollution reading hits to above 1000 level

Lahore air pollution, above 1000 AQI

LAHORE: Punjab’s capital city passing through dangerously high air quality index (AQI) reading of 1067 on Saturday morning that later improved to 702.

Lahore has been on the top of the hazardous air quality list in the world as India’s Kolkata with 253 AQI reading, Delhi, 238, Mumbai 199 and Tashkent in Uzbekistan with 181 reading much behind.

Smog in Lahore causing serious health problems for residents toiling in polluted air and reported to have breathing difficulties, coughing and burning eyes.

AQI as high as 151-200 is considered unhealthy, while an AQI rating between 201 to 300 is more harmful and AQI over 300 has been extremely hazardous.

Lahore had the worst air quality of 1,067 at 9:30 in the morning Swiss air quality watchdog’s real-time list of most polluted cities in the world, despite provincial government’s desperate attempts to fight off smog.

Air pollution level goes upward in the city on the onset of winter, change in the wind speed, wind direction and sliding minimum temperature increases air pollution.

The air becomes heavier in the winter and traps poisonous particles in the atmosphere to downward and making the atmosphere polluted. As a result, a layer of polluted particles, including large amounts of carbon and smoke, covers an area.

The smoke produced by burning crop remnants, factories and burning coal, garbage, oil or tyres enters in the atmosphere and the impact of it appears at the onset of winter and remain till the season’s end.

Thus, air pollution reaches to extremely dangerous levels, severely compromising the air quality.
