Another PTI’s Sindh assembly member quits party

KARACHI: A member of the Sindh Assembly and President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Youth Wing Sindh, Syed Mohammad Abbas Jafri condemned the events happened on May 9 and part ways with Imran Khan’s party, ARY News reported on Friday.

In a video statement, the Sindh Assembly member stated that, “I strongly condemn the events of May 9. The foundation of Pakistan is the Pakistan Army, and the foundations should not be disturbed.”

Syed Mohammad Abbas Jafri said, “I resign from party membership. My father is in intensive care; He needs me. I will decide about my political future later.”

It is evident that Syed Mohammad Abbas Jafri had obtained success by securing 30,687 votes in the general elections of 2018 from PS-125 constituency in Karachi. He competed against Abdul Haseeb, a former member of the Sindh Assembly from MQM.

PS-125 was considered an ancestral constituency of MQM since it is home to Azizabad and the former head office of MQM, “Nine Zero.” It was considered impossible for any other party to win from here in the past 30 years.

PM Shehbaz, FM Bilawal discuss political situation

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held a meeting in which they discussed the present political situation.

The prime minister appreciated the foreign minister for exposing all over the world the false propaganda of India on Kashmir and its condemnable attempt to give a wrong impression to the world by calling the recent meeting of G-20 in the occupied valley.

He also praised Bilawal Bhutto for effectively espousing the aspirations of Kashmiris during his address to the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmir issue was the unfinished agenda of partition of the sub-continent, he said adding the nefarious attempts of India to claim the Occupied Kashmir as its part would never succeed.

Shehbaz Sharif said the heart of every Pakistani beat for his Kashmiri brothers.

PTI’s Mussarat Cheema, Jamshed Cheema quit party, politics

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary Information Punjab Mussarat Cheema and her husband Jamshed Iqbal Cheema quit the party and politics, ARY News reported.

Addressing a joint press conference in the national press club Rawalpindi, Mussarat Cheema and her husband Jamshed Cheema condemned the May 9 violence, wherein military installations including Corps Commander House in Lahore were attacked.

Jamshed Cheema said that he was surprised to see people entering Jinnah House as they had no plan to attack any military or public buildings.

He said that the May 9 violence was the result of Imran Khan’s narrative. The senior leadership including us did not stop Imran Khan from propagating this narrative, he added.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader and the party’s spokesperson on legal issues, Barrister Maleeka Bokhari announced to leave the party and strongly condemned the May 9 incidents.

It is pertinent to mention here that several PTI lawmakers and members have parted their ways with the party following the May 9 violence, wherein military installations including General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and Corps Commander House Lahore were attacked after the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) suffered huge blows as several prominent leaders including Fawad Chaudhary, Shireen Mazari Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan and others quit the party over May 9 violence.

May 9 events

Violent clashes broke out across Pakistan after the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan were arrested at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday.

The protests were held in remote and major cities as the party workers are agitated due to their chairman’s arrest, with Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad summoning the armed forces to ensure law and order.

Army installations and Corps Commander’s house in Lahore came under attack during a protest by PTI workers.

‘Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada’: President, PM pay rich tributes to martyrs

President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Services Chiefs have in their messages on the occasion of Yaum-e-Takreem-e-Shuhada-e-Pakistan have paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Pakistan, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The President in his message said the entire nation is proud of its valiant martyrs who displayed the spirit of patriotism and fearlessness in testing times throughout the history.

Today the nation is solemnly observing Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan to pay its glowing tributes to our heroes, Ghazis, and martyrs and express its unflinching solidarity with their families.

The Prime Minister in a tweet urged people, including the children, to visit monuments and graves of martyrs and shower flowers on them as a sign of affection and respect. He said we should show to the world that we are the nation that holds its Shuhada in veneration and affection.

According to ISPR, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Services Chiefs, retired services officers and representatives of civil society also paid rich tributes to martyrs of Pakistan.

In their messages, they said the sacrifices of Shuhada are eternal and will continue to inspire future generations of countrymen.

They said these sacrifices will never be forgotten, irrespective of vicious propaganda by the enemies of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the president in his video message said that the entire nation was proud of their valiant martyrs who displayed the spirit of patriotism and fearlessness in testing times throughout their history.

He said that, they observed Martyrs Reverence Day to pay tribute to the unprecedented courage and sacrifices of their ancestors and personnel of the security forces who had rendered great sacrifices for the motherland.

“The integrity and security of our country would not have been possible without their valuable services. Apart from defending the frontiers of the country, our security forces successfully defeated the menace of terrorism,” he said, adding Pakistan single-handedly contained the scourge of terrorism due to the bravery and sacrifices of its forces.

The president said that they should not forget that even during natural calamities and pandemics, their security forces stood shoulder to shoulder with their people and provided timely relief and assistance to their fellow countrymen.

“Being the President of Pakistan, I regularly contact the families of the martyrs to pay homage and convey my feelings for the them. During my interactions with them, I feel proud over their spirt of patriotism towards the motherland,” he added.

He further said the entire nation acknowledged their contributions towards the defence of the nation and saluted them for laying down their lives for the motherland.

The president observed that Pakistan was facing various challenges, and they needed to forge unity among their ranks to overcome the challenges being faced by the country.

“Let us pledge on this day that we will never forget our valiant martyrs and reiterate our commitment to always honour them and express our undying love for these brave sons and daughters of the nation,” he added.

MQM-L ‘operative’ arrested by CTD in Karachi

KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Thursday apprehended a former unit incharge of Muttahida Qaumi Movement – London (MQM-L) Korangi Sector, based on a tip-off operation, ARY News reported.

According to the details, CID’s Chaudhry Safdar revealed a former Unit Incharge of MQM-London’s Korangi Sector identified as Wasim Khan, alias Kashif, has been arrested. The culprit was in-charged of Unit 74’s during 2014 to 2019.

The accused, Wasim Khan alias Kashif, during the investigation, made significant revelations, stated that he received all the instructions from the Sector Incharge, Mumtaz, and was involved in multiple incidents of murder.

According to the CTD’s officials, the accused, Wasim Khan, revealed that he injured a CTD officer in a firing incident in 2010. Meanwhile in 2012, he murdered two boys affiliated with with MQM Haqiqi at Jaleebi Chowk, Karachi.

He further confessed that in 2013, he killed ASI Haji Nadim in Korangi area, several workers of MQM Haqiqi associated with Unit 80, as well as killed two boys in Karbala Ground, Landhi.

The culprit revealed that in 2013, he intruded into the house of police officer Nadim Qadri and opened fire. As a result, the police officer, Nadim, was injured, and his nephew was killed. In 2014, he killed two police officers by opening fire on a police mobile of Ibrahim Hyderi police station.

According to Chaudhry Safdar, the accused was already in jail for grenade attacks and murder cases. The arrested suspect is being investigated regarding MQM London’s setup.

‘Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan’ being observed today

ISLAMABAD: The nation is observing ‘Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan’ on Thursday, to pay rich tribute to the martyrs who laid their lives while protecting the motherland and its people.

In remembrance of the courageous heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, numerous events featuring Quran khwani and prayers will be organized throughout the country.

These gatherings will serve as a platform for the nation to honour the indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication of the martyrs, hailing from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Frontier Corps, Frontier Constabulary, Police, and other law enforcement agencies.

Several commemorative ceremonies will be held at the martyrs’ memorials to pay tribute to them.

Earlier, military leadership paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the nation, who sacrificed their lives while defending Pakistan.

CCTV footage shows muggers looting Karachi citizens in broad daylight

CCTV footage of a broad daylight robbery in Karachi has surfaced on social media which showed dacoits looting citizens after surrounding a vehicle in the PECHS Block 2 area, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

The footage showed three dacoits on two motorcycles surrounding a vehicle and looting mobile phones and cash from a youth and a woman sitting in the car.

When a dacoit tried to stop the woman, a citizen in the street tried to catch the mugger but he stepped back after watching a gun in his hand.

After snatching valuables, the dacoits fled from the scene easily. The CCTV footage showed one of the dacoits carrying a bag.

A few days ago, robbers looted a family who were at their doorsteps in Karachi’s Uzairabad Block 8 area.

As per details, the family members were standing on the doorsteps when the robbers looted them.

The CCTV footage shows a man and woman outside their home when two armed men riding a bike came near them and took mobile phones, cash and other valuable items.

The robbers were wearing masks and caps to hide their identities.
